It is a rough time to be a New Yorker. First hurricane Sandy pounded the east coast and then promising young outfielder for the New York Mets Lucas Duba broke his wrist earlier this year while moving furniture. This injury may have been prevented if Lucas had hired professional movers to assist with his relocation instead of moving his belongings himself.
According to the New York Associated Press:
“Even in the offseason, the New York Mets get hurt. Outfielder Lucas Duda broke his right wrist while moving furniture last month at his apartment in Southern California. The team says he had surgery Monday and is expected to be ready for spring training in February.
Duda was operated on by Dr. Andrew Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. The Mets say Duda will be discharged from the hospital Tuesday.
The 26-year-old slumped to a .239 average with 15 homers and 57 RBIs in 459 plate appearances this year, down from a .292 average with 10 homers and 50 RBIs in 347 plate appearances in 2011.”
This news article affirms that despite your physical condition or health, or how physical your job or career may be on a regular basis, there are still risks lurking around every corner when moving your earthly belongings. Hiring professional movers relieves you of the responsibility of all the heavy lifting. Professional movers not only bring value to protecting your items but also to protecting you from hurting yourself which might lead to physical loss or other issues, such as financial loss if you are unable to work. In the case of Lucas Duda, depending on how long he takes to recover or how his wrist heals; his professional career will most likely be affected in some way.
This is why it is so important to weigh the costs of hiring professional movers versus a do-it-yourself relocation. We have several other blogs to consider when choosing whether to hire professional movers and save yourself the backache or handle it all on your own – check them out here and here!
