Hello there again cyber land! It is I, the resident Customer Service Ninja at Great Day Moving. As you know, I work for a moving company. But I want to talk about one the most baffling parts of my job: customers who hire a moving company without doing their due diligence on that company.
With the technological age of instant news, smart phones, and internet access at the tip of your fingers, there’s no excuse for not doing your homework. All too often I hear from customers who have had terrible experiences with less than reputable people trying to pass themselves off as a legitimate moving company. I know in an economic recession, many people look for every way to pinch pennies and watch their personal bottom line, but are cheap movers really where you want to save your money? And I know my opinion of this topic may seem a little skewed because a moving company pays my bills and feeds my wife’s shoe habit, but truly think about it.
- Are you going to trust just anyone to come into your home, or do you want men who are professionals who have been screened, trained, and tested? You won’t find contractors or day laborers at Great Day Moving!
- Are you going to trust just anybody to load all of your earthly possessions into a truck and simply drive off, or do you want a company who has the highest reputation of service and integrity? Great Day Moving is an Accredited Member of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. My point is that unfortunately the saying “you get what you pay for” is true, especially in the moving industry.
I am constantly suggesting to customers that call me for a quote to spend 20 or 30 minutes online doing research on the company they are planning on hiring to assist with their relocation. Do your due diligence! Customers are always telling me that if they had read the reviews online they would have made a completely different decision when hiring a moving company.
- When Great-Grandma’s baking rack is lying in thirty pieces on your driveway it is too late to do your due diligence on who you have hired to see if they are properly insured.
- When the moving truck with all of your stuff on it has been redirected to a different part of the city until you pay an outrageous unload fee (that was never mentioned in any conversation or estimate) it is too late to do research on who you have hired.
When the back of your leather couch is torn open like your kid’s present on Christmas morning, it is too late to do your research on who you have hired. But don’t take my word for it, do the research on your own. I have included a few links to see what Kansas City is saying about Great Day Moving.
Be sure to do your due diligence before you hire your next moving company and when you’re ready, request an estimate from us and we’ll gladly be at your service! Sayonara for now and have a Great Day moving!!!
